29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a. 135 National Rd., Edison, NJ - Body Maker / Trimmer The employer did not ensure that methods of machine guarding were provided to protect machine operators from hazards created by point of operation, rotating parts, and/or ingoing nip points. Employees engaged in the manufacture of food grade metal cans operated equipment that included, but was not limited to Belvac and/or Ragsdale/OLK body maker / trimmer machines , #27 where interlocks which render the equipment inoperable if opened were broken or not operating and would allow an employee to place a body part into the moving machine. b. 135 National Rd., Edison, NJ - Body Maker / Trimmer The employer did not ensure that methods of machine guarding were provided to protect machine operators from hazards created by point of operation, rotating parts, and/or ingoing nip points. Employees engaged in the manufacture of food grade metal cans operated equipment that included, but was not limited to Belvac and/or Ragsdale/OLK body maker / trimmer machines , #26 where interlocks which render the equipment inoperable if opened were broken or not operating and would allow an employee to place a body part into the moving machine. c. 135 National Rd., Edison, NJ - Body Maker / Trimmer The employer did not ensure that methods of machine guarding were provided to protect machine operators from hazards created by point of operation, rotating parts, and/or ingoing nip points. Employees engaged in the manufacture of food grade metal cans operated equipment that included, but was not limited to Belvac and/or Ragsdale/OLK body maker / trimmer machines , #12 where interlocks which render the equipment inoperable if opened were broken or not operating and would allow an employee to place a body part into the moving machine. f. 135 National Rd., Edison, NJ - Baler The employer did not ensure that methods of machine guarding were provided to protect machine operators from hazards created by point of operation, rotating parts, and/or ingoing nip points. Employees engaged in the recycling of food grade metal cans from the manufacturing process, operated equipment that included, but was not limited to a Balemaster, Model 4575G-10, S/N 11416B baler, where guards were removed and laying on the floor next the machine, were not secured to the machine, or were missing, allowing employee direct access to moving machine parts.
