29 CFR 1926.701(b): Reinforcing steel. All protruding reinforcing steel, onto and into which employees could fall, shall be guarded to eliminate the hazard of impalement. a. On or about March 24, 2021 and at times prior, employees were exposed to impalement hazards associated with unguarded rebar in an open excavation in which they were working near and above.
