Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.252(c)(1)(iii): Local exhaust or general ventilating systems shall be provided and arranged to keep the amount of toxic fumes, gases, or dusts below the maximum allowable concentration as specified in 1910.1000 of this part. a) Welding area/Production Department - On or about 11/04/2020, the employer exposed employees to health hazards of Zinc Oxide fumes in that, local exhaust or ventilating system(s) used to keep the amount of toxic fumes down was not utilized at the facility. Employees tasked with welding sheets of galvanized metal were exposed to health hazards from chemicals such as, but not limited; to Zinc Oxide fumes, which is below the maximum allowable concentration of 5 mg/m3 as specified in 1910.1000.
