Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.253(b)(2)(ii): Inside of buildings, cylinders were not stored in a well-protected, well ventilated, dry location, at least 20 feet from highly combustible materials such as oil or excelsior. Assigned storage spaces were not located where cylinders will not be knocked over or damaged by passing or falling objects, or subject to tampering by unauthorized persons: The employer is failing to protect employees from fire and explosion hazards when storing compressed gas cylinders. This was most recently documented on May 21, 2020 at the worksite located at 1921 West US Highway 50, Lone Jack, Missouri. Compressed gas cylinders containing oxygen and acetylene were stored near a forklift charging station, laundry and a welding unit in the warehouse/maintenance area as well as not secured to prevent falling over.
