29 CFR 1926.651(k)(1): An inspection of the excavations, the adjacent areas, and protective systems was not conducted by the competent person prior to the start of work and as needed throughout the shift: a) Work site was located at 321 NJ 440, Jersey City, NJ 07305 Employer did not provide a competent person to perform the duties including an inspection of the trench to identify and remove exposed employees from cave in hazards. Employees were working in an open unprotected trench approximately seven feet, four inches deep, four feet, nine inches wide. Violation was observed on or about February 27, 2020.
