29 CFR 1915.34(a)(2): Portable rotating tools used to remove paints, preservatives, rusts or other coatings were not adequately guarded to protect both the operator and nearby workers from flying missiles. A) Outside hanger: the employer failed to ensure that each employee utilizing hand held Dewalt grinder(s) were adequately protected from hazards while operating the tools without a guard. B)West side of Outside hanger: Commercial fishing vessel - the employer failed to ensure that each employee utilizing hand held Dewalt grinder(s) were adequately protected from hazards while operating the tools without a guard. Condition observed on or about the January 23, 2020. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
