Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard:

29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2): A stairway, ladder, ramp or other safe means of egress was not located in trench excavations that were 4 feet or more in depth so as to require no more than 25 feet of lateral travel for employees: (a) ContractOne, Inc. at 105 Base Camp Circle, Granby, CO 80446: On or before June 14, 2018, the employer did not ensure that a safe means of egress was located so as to require no more than 25 feet of lateral travel for employees. The employer excavated the north trench that was approximately 8 feet deep and approximately 54 feet long from the residence to the street. Employees were working in the trench to install a water line. The 54 foot long trench was not provided with a ladder or other means of egress within 25 feet of lateral travel. This condition exposed employees to cave-in and struck-by hazards.
