Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.107(l)(1): Electrical equipment and other sources of ignition did not conform to the requirements of paragraphs (c)(1)(i)-(iv), (8) and (9)(i) of this section and subpart S of this part: Southern Tire Mart, Covington, GA - On or about May 29, 2018, and times prior to, powder coating was conducted with portable hand spraying equipment in a spraying area. Electrical wiring, electrical outlets and electric fans used in the area were not approved for hazardous location type as required by Subpart S. The employer failed to use approved electrical equipment with in 5 feet (Class II, Division 1) and 20 feet (Class II, Division 2) areas. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
