Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: On or about October 11, 2017 employees in building one, building two and chemical storage areas were exposed the corrosive and other chemical hazards where the employer did not provided effective hazard communication program training. Corrosive chemicals used at the site included, but were not limited to; hydrochloric acid, caustic soda, sodium hydroxide solution, Zylite 1150 Carrier, Zylite 1150 Brightener and hypochlorite solution. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.9(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
