Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1025(c)(1): The employer shall assure that no employee is exposed to lead at concentrations greater than fifty micrograms per cubic meter of air (50 ug/m3) averaged over an 8-hour period. a) On July 19, 2017, employees were assigned to disassemble Cathode Ray Tube monitors by manually separating the panel glass from the funnel glass using hammers, axes and wire cutters. Air monitoring conducted on July 19, 2017, indicated that an employee was exposed to lead at an 8-hour time weighted average level of 69 ug/m3 which exceeded the OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit of 50 ug/m3 by approximately 1.38 times. This limit is established to prevent lead poisoning. Sampling was conducted during one shift for 400 minutes and zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled period time of 80 minutes.
