29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: On or about August 24 through October 26, 2016, the following machines were not adequately guarded, exposing employees to amputation, laceration, caught-in and crush hazards: a) Hamilton Fold Presses #2, #5 and #10. The nip point between the roller and the frame of the press at the discharge end was not adequately guarded to prevent employees from getting their fingers caught when pulling the folded product forward from the side of the press table. b) Hamilton Fold Press #2. The ingoing nip point between the rollers on the perforation unit were not adequately guarded. Corrected During Inspection c) Hamilton Collator #1. Rotating parts in the mid-section of the collator were not adequately guarded. Corrected During Inspection d) Hamilton Collator #1. Rotating parts on the collator along both sides of the walkway were not adequately guarded. e) Weldotron Sealer Machine. The opening under the drop guard at the entrance of the machine was not adequately guarded to prevent employees' hands from being struck by the drop door during the operating cycle. Abatement documentation is required for Instances a), d) and e) in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d). No documentation or certification is required for Instances b) and c) which were Corrected During Inspection.
