29 CFR 1910.252(b)(2)(iii): Workers and other persons adjacent to the welding area were not required to wear appropriate goggles, to protect them from the rays when noncombustible or flameproof screens or shields were not used: The employer is failing to protect employees from hazards associated with working adjacent to designated welding areas. This was most recently evident during the inspection of the facility located at 2215 Leavenworth St., Omaha, NE, where the employer has employees welding the frames for the stage materials in a central area that is not protected by welding curtains. Instances of employee exposure include but are not limited to: i. Employees exposed to the bright arc flash from the welding operations. ii. Employees exposed to the flying slag burn off from the welding operations.
