29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): The side rails of portable ladders used for access did not extend at least 3 feet above the upper landing surface, or was secured at its top to a rigid support that will not deflect and along with a grasping devise to assist employees mounting and dismounting the ladder. (a) Leisure Oaks Subdivision: 47 Oak Ln, Douglasville, Georgia: The employer did not ensure that the portable ladder, 32 feet Werner aluminum, on the back porch of the residence extended at least 3 feet above the upper landing surface to which the ladder is used to gain access. The ladder only extended 15 inches above the landing surface, exposing employees to fall hazard of at least 32 feet to the porch below.
