29 CFR 1910.138(a): Appropriate hand protection was not used when employee's hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes: a) Product Service Room: An employee conducts spray finishing operations using various chemicals which includes, but not limited to, Polane Catalyst which contains isocyanates and Finish 1 Economy Thinner. Per the safety data sheet, Polane Catalyst is listed as a skin sensitization and the employee was not wearing hand protection. The employer failed to ensure that the employee was wearing appropriate hand protection, thus exposing employees to skin absorption, on or about, 3/14/16.
