29 CFR 1926.859(g): During demolition, continuing inspections by a competent person were not made as the work progressed to detect hazards resulting from weakened or deteriorated floors, or walls, or loosened material. Employees were also permitted to work where such hazards existed without being corrected by shoring, bracing, or other effective means. a- Woolworth Building - 46 Route 9 Bayville NJ: A competent person did not conduct frequent and regular inspections of the jobsite. Employees on this site were exposed to hazards including, but not limited to unplanned collapses, falling debris, etc. when cutting support columns that were actively supporting a previously disturbed roof. Condition noted on or about 09/24/15. b- Woolworth Building - 46 Route 9 Bayville NJ: A competent person did not conduct frequent and regular inspections of the jobsite. Employees on this site were exposed to hazards including, but not limited to unplanned collapses, etc. when working next to an unbraced cinder block wall. Condition noted on or about 10/21/15. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM, FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
