Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004D Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.178(q)(7): Industrial trucks shall be examined before being placed in service, and shall not be placed in service if the examination shows any condition adversely affecting the safety of the vehicle. Such examination shall be made at least daily. Where industrial trucks are used on a round-the-clock basis, they shall be examined after each shift. Defects when found shall be immediately reported and corrected. On or about March 14, 2023, at an establishment located at 107 East Walnut Street in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; the employer did not ensure that forklifts were examined before being placed in service to identify any condition that could adversely affect the safety of the vehicles such as, but not limited to, malfunctioning brakes, horns, and backup alarms.
