29 CFR 1910.184(d): Sling(s) and fastenings were not inspected each day or during use and were not removed from service when damaged or defective: The employer failed to ensure that slings were inspected each day before use and that damaged or defective slings were removed from service. 1). On or about September 10, 2019, the employer used wire-rope slings that did not have affixed identification markings and were damaged and defective to lift equipment with their PIT. The PIT, JCB (Model No. 506.36F, Serial No. JCB5CD7GVJ2793680), was used to lift the Bobcat skid steer (S/N A3W618321) into gondola railroad cars. 2). On or about November 19, 2019 the employer used metal chain slings that did not have affixed identification markings to lift equipment with their PIT. The PIT, JCB (Model No. 506.36F, Serial No. JCB5CD7GVJ2793680), was used to lift a core-straightener into railroad cars. 3). On or about November, 19, 2019, the employer used wire-rope slings that did not have affixed identification markings and were damaged and defective to lift equipment with their PIT. The PIT, JCB (Model No. 506.36F, Serial No. JCB5CD7GVJ2793680), was used to lift railroad car wheels.
