Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004C Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.333(a): Safety-related work practices were not employed to prevent electric shock or other injuries resulting from either direct or indirect electrical contacts, when work was performed near or on equipment or circuits which were or could be energized: Company: On, or about, February 24, 2017, the employer had not developed and implemented Electrical Safety Related Work Practices to protect employees from electrical shock, burns, arc flash and arc blast hazards when working on or around electrical equipment in the plant. In additional to a lack of training and personal protective, employees were required to wear static dissipating ankle straps in order to prevent static that could damage circuit boards that were being manufactured. The static dissipating straps ensured a less resistive path to ground reducing the effectiveness of any insulating property of the employees shoes. Examples of safe work practices could include removing sensitive equipment from any work area to allow for employees to remove the ankle straps and/or the use insulating mats on the floor in the work area.
