29 CFR 1926.850(e): The employer did not determine if any type of hazardous chemicals, gases, explosives, flammable materials, or similarly dangerous substances were used in any pipes, tanks, or other equipment on the property. When the presence of any such substances was apparent or suspected, the employer did not perform testing and purging to eliminate the hazard before demolition was started: On or about May 28, 2024, the employer failed to ensure that there was no residual natural gas in the service line that was considered inactive/abandoned prior to performing demolition operations at the jobsite in the basement of a business and residential (mixed occupancy) building located at 47 Federal Plaza Central, Realty Tower, Youngstown, OH 44503.
