29 CFR 1910.184(e)(1): Sling identification. Alloy steel chain slings shall have permanently affixed durable identification stating size, grade, rated capacity, and reach. a. On or about January 14, 2023, and at times prior, an alloy steel chain sling that was missing an identification tag was utilized on the underhung crane in the Receiving Area to move steel I-beam materials during the staging and unloading processes. Employees were thereby exposed to struck-by hazard from falling loads.
