29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(4): Ladders shall be used only for the purpose for which they were designed. On March 11, 2020, located in a 9' depth excavation on a residential construction site, an employee utilized an extension ladder that had been separated into two sections to access and egress inside an excavation for which it was not designed for this purpose.
