29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: STERILIZATION DEPARTMENT: On or about and at times prior to February 20, 2019, employees responsible for sterilizing surgical instruments were not familiar with the chemicals that were used to remove bioburden from instruments prior to sterilization with steam. Hazardous chemicals used included a flammable enzyme-based detergent and another corrosive detergent.
