29 CFR 1915.503(a)(2)(ii): The employer permitted employees to perform hot work in areas that were not free of fire hazards or that had not been controlled by physical isolation, fire watches or other positive means. M/V Tamaraw, below the main deck, aft: On August 14, 2017, hot work was authorized in an area that was not cleared of combustible materials, such as but not limited to cardboard boxes and contaminated oil filters. Employees were exposed to fire hazards.
