Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.178(q)(7): Industrial trucks shall be examined before being placed in service, and shall not be placed in service if the examination shows any condition adversely affecting the safety of the vehicle. Such examination shall be made at least daily. Where industrial trucks are used on a round-the-clock basis, they shall be examined after each shift. Defects when found shall be immediately reported and corrected. On or about 23 November 2016, the employer failed to ensure that all powered industrial trucks were properly inspected and removed from service if any safety conditions were found. On the Combilift side loaders, the protective screens to protect operators from struck-by hazards was missing on all observed vehicles. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
