29 CFR 1915.1001(g)(9)(iii): Where Class III asbestos work involved drilling, cutting, abrading, sanding, chipping, breaking, or sawing of thermal system insulation or surfacing material, the employer did not use or isolate the operation using mini-enclosures or glove bag systems, or another isolation method. a) On or about August 27, 2016, in the area damaged during a collision at level A of the floating dry-dock, employees were instructed to conduct Class III asbestos work and the employer failed to ensure that employees used or isolated the operation suing mini-enclosures or glove-bag systems, or other isolation method to contain while removing a section of duct covered with thermal system insulation, exposing employees working to asbestos airborne concentrations that may have exceeded the permissible exposure limit (PEL).
