29 CFR 1926.352(f): When welding, cutting, or heating is performed on walls, floors, and ceilings, since direct penetration of sparks or heat transfer may introduce a fire hazard to an adjacent area, the same precautions shall be taken on the opposite side as are taken on the side on which the welding is being performed. a. On or about August 11, 2016, located on the third floor at the asbestos containment area, welding and cutting was being performed above the containment which started a fire when hot spark/slag fell through the holes in floor grating, thereby exposing the employees to a fire hazard.
