Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004A Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational safety and Health Act of 1970: the employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a. On or about October 13, 2010 - at the above addressed jobsite, employees conducting demolition activities were exposed to struck by hazards due to employees not necessary for the performance of the work being in the work area while demolition operations were performed. One feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard, among other means would be following the ANSI/ASSE A10.6-2006 Safety and Health Program Requirements For Demolition Operations provided by The National Demolition Association and approved by the American National Standard Institute which states in Section 5.2,"Only those employees necessary for the performance of operations shall be permitted in the work area when demolition operations are being performed."
