Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004A Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees are exposed to potential fire hazards: a) Building 1143a - There was no emergency lighting on floors 2 and 3. b) Building 1143b - There was no emergency lighting on floors 2, 3 and 4. c) Building 1125 - There was no emergency lighting on the 2nd floor. ***ABATEMENT VERIFICATION IS REQUIRED*** Among other methods, one feasible method to reduce this hazard is to install emergency lighting, in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association 101, Life Safety Code, section 5-9.
