29 CFR 1910.29(b)(2): The employer did not ensure that guardrail systems met the requirement that midrails, screens, mesh, intermediate vertical members, solid panels, or equivalent intermediate members that are installed between the walking-working surface and the top edge of the guardrail system as follows when there is not a wall or parapet that is at least 21 inches (53 cm) high: (a) Warehouse 2 - The landing platform at the top of the fixed stairs leading to the storage area above the office had a railing that did not meet guardrail system requirements in that the existing railing consisted of a top rail only with no midrails, screens, mesh, intermediate vertical members, solid panels, or equivalent intermediate members, exposing employees to the hazard of falling 10 feet to the plant floor below, on or about March 13, 2024. No abatement certification or documentation required.
