Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004A Hazard:

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. At an establishment located at 200 Woodland Drive in Random Lake, Wisconsin: a) On or about January 6, 2023, employees were exposed to entanglement hazards while operating a Delta drill press (S/N: 8810) with an unguarded chuck. The machine was not effectively guarded to prevent exposure to the entanglement hazard. b) On or about December 31, 2022, to January 6, 2023, employees were exposed to pinch point and amputation hazards created by the HP 2000 Case Clamp machine (S/N: 1250) plungers and the wooden table being clamped. The machine was not effectively guarded to prevent exposure to these hazards.
