29 CFR 1910.215(a)(4): On offhand grinding machines, work rests were not used to support the work and/or were not kept adjusted closely to the wheel with a maximum opening of one-eighth inch to prevent the work from being jammed between the wheel and the rest, which may cause wheel breakage. (a) On or about August 24, 2022, in the production department, employees used the Dayton, model 22341N pedestal grinder without a tool rest on the left grinding stone to sharpen tools. (b) On or about August 24, 2022, in the production department, employees used the Dayton, model 22341N pedestal grinder to sharpen tools and the tool rest on the right grinding stone was measured to be approximately 15/16ths of an inch away from the stone.
