Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.134(c)(1): A written respiratory protection program that included the provisions in 29 CFR 1910.134(c)(1)(i) - (ix) with worksite specific procedures was not established and implemented for required respirator use: The employer is failing to protect employees from acidified sodium chlorite (ASC) and carbon dioxide (dry ice) in the fabrication area. This was most recently documented on June 9, 2020 at the worksite located at 1921 West US Highway 50, Lone Jack, Missouri. Employees were exposed to levels above the Permissible Exposure Limits (PELs) for carbon dioxide (1.257 and 1.322 times above the PEL of 5,000 parts per million) and chlorine dioxide (1.3 and 1.4 times the PEL of 0.1 parts per million). In the fabrication area, a respiratory protection program was written but was not implemented.
