29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1) Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: b) On or about September 6, 2019, employees working on and around the Sheer machine on the Thor slitter line were exposed to a point of operation hazards from the cutting blade of the sheer that was not guarded. c) On or about September 6, 2019, employees working on and around the Pinch Rollers on the Thor slitter line were exposed to unguarded ingoing nip points hazards create by the Pinch Rollers rotating inward toward the Slitter. d) On or about September 6, 2019, employees working on and around the Slitter on the Thor slitter line were exposed to a point of operation hazards create by the rotating slitter blades routing inward toward the re-coiler. e) On or about September 6, 2019, employees working on and around the Re-coiler on the Thor slitter line were exposed to unguarded ingoing nip points hazards create by metal being re-coiled on itself. f) On or about September 6, 2019, employees working on and around the Scrap roller on the Thor slitter line were exposed to unguarded ingoing nip points hazards create by metal being re-coiled on itself. h) On or about September 6, 2019, employees working on and around the Slitter on the Fury slitter line were exposed to a point of operation hazards create by the rotating slitter blades routing inward toward the re-coiler.
