29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: On or about February 13, 2018, employees working in: a. the Tool Room were exposed to the hazard of being caught in rotating parts while operating the 600 Lathes Ltd Vertical Lathe, Model Number Alpha 400, Serial Number A30167, because the employer had not provided adequate machine guarding. b. the Tool Room were exposed to the hazard of being caught in rotating parts while operating the vertical belt sander on the left and right sides of the Hammond Abrasive Vertical Belt Grinder, Machine Number M-471, Model Number UBG-62-6S, Serial Number 1431, because the employer had not provided adequate machine guarding. c. NPI (New Product Introduction) were exposed to the hazard of being struck by and crushed by inadvertent contact with the Wysong Shear, Machine Number M-28, Model Number 1251, when accessing the area behind the shear to retrieve stored materials.
