Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1026(d)(2)(i): The employer using the scheduled monitoring option does not perform initial monitoring to determine the 8-hour time-weighted average exposure to chromium (VI) for each employee on the basis of a sufficient number of personal breathing zone air samples to accurately characterize full shift exposure on each shift, for each job classification, in each work area: a) On or about March 17, 2017, and times prior thereto, initial monitoring for chromium (VI) exposure for employees conducting welding operations on stainless steel is not representative in that the length of time sampled does not represent a normal work shift exposing employees to inhalation hazards associated with chromium (VI). b) On or about March 17, 2017, and times prior thereto, the employer only samples employees conducting tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding and does not sample employees conducting shielded metal arc welding (SMAW or stick welding) exposing employees to inhalation hazards associated with chromium (VI).
