Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.178(l)(1)(ii): Prior to permitting an employee to operate a powered industrial truck (except for training purposes), the employer shall ensure that each operator has successfully completed the training required by this paragraph (l), except as permitted by paragraph (l)(5). On or about November 8, 2016, an employee was permitted to operate a forklift for regular mechanical material handling tasks without receiving operator's initial formal instruction and practical training (truck-related and workplace related topics) to ensure competency in safe operation. Employees were exposed to struck-by hazards likely to result in serious injury. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
