29 CFR 1926.757(e)(1): During the construction period, the employer placing a load on steel joists shall ensure that the load is distributed so as not to exceed the carrying capacity of any steel joist. Located within Sequence 17 Music Wing on October 11, 2016 during the construction period the employer allowed metal decking construction load bundle(s) distribution to be placed on 1926.757 Table A covered type short span open web steel bar joist series 22K7-J240 exceeding 40 foot 7 inches spans were erected without ensuring all erection and horizontal bridging had been installed and anchored and all joist-bearing ends secured with welded attachment anchorage exposing employees to the hazard of being struck by unintentional displacement of open web steel joist which exceeded the carrying capacity of the steel joist within pocketed bearing points.
