29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652(c). At this workplace, employees engaged in job site operations in an excavation greater than five feet in depth. Designs for benching were not in accordance with tabulated data, to ensure excavation protective systems were safe for employee entry. The employees were exposed to engulfment hazards.
