OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: At the time of the inspection the following electrical hazards were found exposing employees to a shock and or an electrocution hazard; The following equipment had openings exposing employees to live electrical circuits; a. Electrical panel in 20 stall near the break room had openings exposing employees to live 220 volt electricity. b. Electrical panel in 60 stall mechanical room was covered with electrical tape exposing employees to live 440 volt electricity. c. Electrical disconnect panel for the feed grinder had openings exposing employees to live 220 volt electricity. d. Two light switches in 60 stall chemical room did not have face plates exposing employees to live 110 volt electricity. e. 60 stall chemical room shows disconnect cabinet for milk pumps with opening to 220 volt electric. Abatement: One method of abatement to correct this apparent hazard is to comply with NFPA 70: National Electric Code.
