29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(2)(i): Engineering and work practice controls were not used to eliminate or minimize employees exposure: STERILIZATION ROOM: On or about August 29, 2013, the employer had not implemented engineering or work practice controls to eliminate or minimnize exposure of employees to contaminated reusable sharps. Such equipment must be scrubbed to remove gross contamination prior to ultrasonic treatment. Employees perform dental procedures ranging from prophylactic cleaning to periodontics, orthodontics, and oral surgery. The reusable sharps are contaminated with patients' blood.
