Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Upper level of mix house, dept. 077, between #1 and #2 crossovers on track #1, northeast side of building, where employees from the traffic dept. 247 parked railroad cars in an unsafe manner, in that conductor did not set brakes or chock the wheels exposing employees to crushing injuries from unexpected movement of the railroad cars and parked locomotive (Mix Mobile) on the same track, on or about January 1, 1987.
