North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health A ct of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditi ons of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physica l harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of potential fi re and explosion from the accumulation of fugitive wood dust from the job made s ander that was not equipped with a air material separator (dust collector): a)fa cility, job made sander/buffer - where the job made sander/buffer was not connec ted to the air material separator (dust collector) allowing for the accumulation of fugitive wood dust on the horizontal and flat surfaces in production. ABATEM ENT NOTE: 1)Have the sander connected to the dust collection system to convey th e dust and minimize the escape of dust through continuos suction. Chapter 8, par agraphs 8.1.1 and 8.1.2.
