Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to electrical equipment that was not protected from physical damage: a.In Compost Buildings # 1 and # 2, the electrical wiring used to power the ventilation/temperature control fans was not protected from physical damage, thus exposing employees to an electrical contact hazard. b.On the northeast corner of Compost Building # 2, an electrical breaker box was not protected from physical damage, thus exposing employees to an electrical contact hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to enclose or guard the above electrical equipment as outlined in National Fire Protection Associations (NFPA) 70, National Electric Code, Section 110.27 B.0.27
