Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employee(s) were exposed to fall hazards while working from a carpet pole without fall protection and elevated by a forklift truck. Warehouse: The employees were elevated by forklift trucks while standing on the carpet poles to search for stock. One method, among other methods, to correct the hazard is to provide 20 ft moveable ladders in each aisle for the employees to use, establish work rules prohibiting the practice of standing on the carpet pole, train employees on the rules, and enforce the work rules.e
