29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: Fenner Dunlop Americas, Inc. doing business as Fenner Dunlop ECS located at 5225 West Lakeshore Drive in Port Clinton, Ohio. Instance A On or about November 7, 2024, the employer did not ensure the hydraulic tension control clamps located on the Siempelkamp Curing Presses were adequately guarded. Employees accessing the areas near and around the north tension clamp of curing press #4 and south tension clamps on curing press #3 and #4 for tasks such as, but not limited to, applying aquacoat, pulling brans, and trimming flash from the belt, were exposed to crushing hazards in that the Haake Pressure Sensitive Safety Mats were bypassed. Instance B On or about November 7, 2024, the employer did not ensure the decks of the Siempelkamp Curing Presses were adequately guarded. Employees accessing the windows along the side of Siempelkamp Curing Presses #3 and #4 for tasks such as, but not limited to, checking for trim and flash under the cure iron, and spraying aqua coat were exposed to crushing hazards in that individual Haake Pressure Sensitive Safety Mats located inside the light curtains of presses #3 and #4 were inoperable.
