Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a.) On or about April 29, 2024, the employer did not ensure that the end of the Combi was guarded to prevent operators from reaching the 3M tape dispenser blade where the boxes exit in the packaging area. b.) On or about May 14, 2024, the employer did not ensure that the Combi machine was guarded at pinch point locations such as; where the bars grab the boxes prior to entering the taping area of the Combi.
