Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Hazard of the three block operator being transferred overhead near his operators station that has no overhead protection. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: Cover the operator's control station to protect him when a coild falls out of the basket. b) Hazard of employees being hit while walking beneath the #3 block pointer where cut off ends and scrap coils are placed into a basket that is damaged and too small and pieces fall onto walkway below. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: To replace damaged basket with new larger basket capable of holding the scrap materials.
