Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) On or about February 13, 2024, the employer failed to ensure that there was effective guarding on the AccurShear Machine #61354. Employees were exposed to struck by and/or caught in between hazards from the moving parts of the hold down plunger of the machine as well as the cutting blade which is just behind the plungers when hand feeding various sized laminate material sheets into the machine. b) On or about February 13, 2024, the employer failed to ensure that there was effective guarding on the Sheeter machine. Employees are exposed to struck by and/or caught in between hazards from the moving ingoing rollers of the machine as well as the blade which is just behind the rollers when hand feeding various sized laminate material sheets into the machine. c) On or about February 13, 2024, the employer failed to ensure that there was effective guarding on the rear of Press #2. Employees are exposed to struck by and/or caught in between hazards of the moving parts/various plate levels of the press in the rear (the press plates on the various levels) when they have to hand push in the materials that come out of place in the press during operation back into the press.
