29 CFR 1926.651(j)(2): Employees were not protected from excavated or other materials or equipment that could pose a hazard by falling or rolling into excavations, or by a combination of both if necessary. a) Highway 27 North Lagrange, GA: On or about January 4, 2024, and at times prior, the employer exposed employees to cave-in and engulfment hazards, in that the employer did not ensure that excavated material was placed at least 2 feet back from the edge of the unprotected trench where employees were installing conduit. The spoil pile was placed at the edge of the trench.
