29 CFR 1910.253(b)(2)(ii): Storage of Cylinders - General Inside of buildings, cylinders shall be stored in a well-protected, well-ventilated, dry location, at least 20 (6.1 m) feet from highly combustible materials such as oil or excelsior. Cylinders should be stored in definitely assigned places away from elevators, stairs, or gangways. Assigned storage spaces shall be located where cylinders will not be knocked over or damaged by passing or falling objects, or subject to tampering by unauthorized persons. Cylinders shall not be kept in unventilated enclosures such as lockers and cupboards. a) On November 8, 2022, the employer did not ensure that the Argon and Oxygen cylinders were not secure from being struck by or knocked over while located next to the doors between bays 3E and 4E where trucks were pulled in and out for maintenance. b) On November 8, 2022, the employer did not ensure that the Argon cylinder was not secure from being struck by or knocked over while located next to the door of maintenance bay 4E where trucks were pulled in and out for maintenance. c) On November 8, 2022, the employer did not ensure that the Acetylene cylinder was not secure from being knocked over by employees located next to the drill press in maintenance bay 4E.
